Aquatic Ecologist Research Position. Work with the U.S. Geological Survey
Water Science Center in Moab , Utah on a variety of interdisciplinary
projects investigating human impacts on aquatic systems.   Current projects
focus on the semi-arid desert of the Colorado Plateau and on tropical
Pacific Island systems.   Research experience in freshwater ecology is
required.   Experience in hydrology, geomorphology, or stable isotopes a
plus. You should have:   strong research abilities, excellent writing
skills (journal article publications), analytical data analysis and
statistical abilities, and interest in developing innovative new projects.
Written and oral communication to a wide range of audiences is an essential
component of the position.   Position requires the ability to backpack and
camp for extended periods in rugged and remote areas, and the interest and
availability to travel for up to several weeks at time.     Projects often
involve working with management agencies such as BLM and the National Park
Service, and collaborating with scientists in several different
disciplines.

The duty station for this position is Moab , Utah , a great place to live
with numerous activities (hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting) just outside
your door. Studies also will be conducted in various southwestern states,
as well as in other countries.   Extensive travel may be required.   Salary
starts at $45,000.   U.S. citizenship required.   This position is ideal
for a post-doc.   Persons with a Master’s degree and proven ability to
publish journal articles will also be considered. Announcement closes
