The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Utah State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics who will extend and enhance Utah State University’s interdisciplinary research and education programs in mathematical and biological sciences (broadly interpreted). The position is a 9-month, tenure track position in mathematical biology/ecology (a departmental research emphasis). Postdoctoral experience is preferred; a PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or related discipline is required. The candidate will receive tenure in the Math Department but will be expected to interact with existing, and develop new, interdisciplinary teams, particularly in the Department of Biology, College of Science, departments in the College of Natural Resources, and the University-wide Ecology Center. Duties within the department include teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in applied mathematics (some subset of methods of applied mathematics, partial differential equations, nonlinear dynamics, asymptotic analysis, numerical methods, stochastic processes, applied math in biology) and supervising research students in the industrial/interdisciplinary masters program and the interdisciplinary PhD program.
