There is another way to look at this.
This NGO is investing a small-ish amount of cash in a student to study
Mahogany regeneration. One must ask (1) is the NGO aware of the
considerable silvicultural research done by people like Laura Snook
into the regeneration and community management of this tree, and (2)
what contribution is the student expected to make - considering it
stipulates Us residents and / or citizens, who typiucally woudl not be
expected to know too much about hte subject!
As for the "exploitation" angle - well of course we all exploit
forests every time we send a document to the printer.
