Classification: Internships Title: Field Ecology Intern Agency: Smithsonian Institution: National Zoological Park/Conservation and Research Center Description: The Smithsonian Institution's Conservation and Research Center is looking for 1-2 field research interns for a 3 month appointment (with possibility of extension) from September 2008 to November 2008. Duties will include vegetation surveys, invasive plant species surveys, small mammal trapping, white - tailed deer capture and radio telemetry, data entry, and GIS analysis. Location: Front Royal, VA Salary: $500/month stipend and free housing Qualification: Undergraduate degree in wildlife biology, ecology or related field. An applicant must be able to work outside in all types of field conditions. A good knowledge of Virginia's plant species and their identification is highly regarded.
