Land Steward Position

The Nisqually Land Trust (WA), Land Steward - Seeking a half time land
steward to carry out monitoring and restoration projects on its lands.  The
position has the potential to become full time. The land steward is
responsible for implementing stewardship plans and managing restoration,
enhancement and monitoring projects on NLT properties.  Job duties include
controlling exotic species; planting; managing contractors; recruiting and
supervising volunteers; coordinating with conservation partners; managing
projects and databases; maintaining equipment; maintaining relationships
with neighbors and the public; monitoring properties and easements; and
assisting the Stewardship Coordinator.  The land steward will need excellent
interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to
work independently and with groups.  He or she should be comfortable working
alone in remote and rough terrain in all weather, be skilled in reading maps
and orienteering, and be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.  A bachelor’s
degree in a natural-science field and one year of experience are required.
