I teach General Ecology in the spring semester in central New York. Spring is unpredictable at best. We have very little snow on the ground right now, but I have stomped through 3 feet on April 1st. This provide serious challenges for field experimentation, as our semester ends the first week of May.
Right now we spend way too much time in the lab. I'm looking for ideas for field labs so that students can get more experience with field techniques. Any ideas from faculty in the same boat would be greatly appreciated. Or direction to sources that might have good ideas. Most syllabi I've found online are for courses in the fall semester (for good reason, obviously).
