FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Pollination Biologist
Department of Entomology
University of California, Davis
Title: Assistant Professor and Assistant Pollination Biologist in the 
Agricultural Experiment Station
(20% AES research and outreach, 80% instruction and research) in the 
Department of Entomology. This
is an academic year tenure track appointment; fiscal year employment 
to be offered and continued based
on successful academic review.
Entomology has research, teaching and outreach programs firmly 
organized around the overarching
concept of insect science and built upon a clear continuum and 
synergy between emerging areas of
fundamental insect studies and research focused on delivery of 
solutions for target problems to specific
clientele and stakeholders.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to 
develop a research and outreach program
in pollination biology with emphasis on California agriculture and 
which is pertinent to the mission of the
Agricultural Experiment Station. Possible research topics include but 
are not limited to evolutionary and
behavioral ecology of insect pollinators, co-evolution of flower 
structure and insect pollen vectors,
enhancement of native bee populations, synergism of multiple 
pollinators, floral biology and pollinator
specificity, optimization of pollination and pollinator environments, 
and integrated pollinator
management.
The appointee is required to teach undergraduate courses in 
pollination biology and entomology and a
graduate level course in their area of specialization. Supervision of 
graduate students, student advising,
participation in outreach programs, curricular development and 
performance of University service are
expected.
Qualifications: The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in 
entomology or related disciplines; breadth
of training; commitment to seek and potential to obtain extramural 
funding; and commitment to: 1)
excellence and creativity in teaching, 2) direction of graduate 
students, and 3) the mission of the
Agricultural Experiment Station.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
