Greetings Field Ecologists,
This is your chance to experience a taste of field ecology without
committing an entire summer and earn some extra cash in the process($9 per
hour, ~$450 per week). We are looking for a sturdy biologists in the St.
Louis, Missouri area with a good attitudes to be a part of a crew that goes
to the Missouri Ozarks in one week intervals to census leaf chewing insect
herbivores on oak trees. No experience is required, but hiking boots and a
tolerance and appreciation for all things outdoors are a must.
Transportation (to and from St. Louis, Missouri to our field site close to
Ellington, Missouri) and lodging are provided; youll provide your own
breakfast and lunch and take a turn cooking dinner for one night.
You will commit to one or more one-week sampling periods which include
the following weeks: June 18th-22nd, June 25th-29th, July 23rd-27th, July
30th-August 3rd, August 27th-31st, and September 3rd-7th. Attendance at a
training session in St. Louis, Missouri (on the campus of the University of
Missouri St. Louis) is required to learn to identify the insects; training
session dates are June 14th 3-5pm (for the two June weeks), July 20th (for
the two July weeks, time to be determined), and August 24th (for the August
and September week, time to be determined).
We currently have an opening for next week (June 18th-22nd). The
other weeks are currently full, but I would be interested in hearing from
you if you have an interest in our project; openings could become available.
