NATURAL RESOURCE SPECIALIST POSITIONS AVAILABLE, Virginia Tech University. These are long-term positions with full benefits. Two field coordinator positions are available, one at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida and the other at Camp Lejeune Marine Base, North Carolina. Will supervise two (North Carolina) to four (Florida) other technicians, and lead a field research team studying longleaf pine communities, including red-cockaded woodpeckers and other avian species, and in Florida bog frogs and flatwoods salamanders. Will work with project PIs (Jeff Walters; in Florida also Carola Haas and a postdoc) in analyzing data and producing reports and journal publications. Must be in good physical condition, able to climb to 60' and operate power drills and 4-wheel drive vehicles. Degree in biology, zoology, fisheries and wildlife biology or related field required. Experience working with red-cockaded woodpeckers, reading color bands, constructing artificial cavities, identifying birds by sight and sound, banding birds and working with amphibian species preferred. Masters degree and supervisory experience are desirable. Pay band 3, salary dependent on qualifications, full benefits.
