Chicago Botanic Garden in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management is
looking for a botanist to intern on the Interagency Rare Plant Team to
inventory, map, and monitor botanical resources on Capitol Reef National Park,
Bureau of Land Management, and Forest Service lands in south-central Utah. The
field station is located 11 miles east of Torrey, Utah.
The climate is typical Colorado Plateau, high desert (cold and windy in
spring and over 100 degrees during summer. Capitol Reef comprises 378 square
miles including colorful canyons with trails that lead to overlooks, natural
arches, and slickrock wilderness. Capitol Reef is also known for the beauty
and productivity of its historic orchards and fields. The park is open
year-round with the majority of activities occurring during the busy season
from March through October. Additional information about the park and

Internship begins mid to late June and lasts for 5 months.
Compensation is $750 each two weeks.
We are looking for a recent graduate with good plant identification skills,
plant monitoring experience and the ability to be in the field for long hours.
Field work experience and ability to drive a 4 wheel drive is necessary. The
ability to use or learn to use a GPS unit and GIS software is required.
Requirements:
· BS or BA in Plant Biology or Ecology with a botanical focus
· US citizen or current visa to work in US
· Valid drivers license
· Vehicle needed for personal use, work vehicle is provided
