Chicago Botanic Garden in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management is
looking for a botanist with strong field work skills to intern at the BLM
Worland Field Office, in Worland, Wyoming. Worland is located in central
Wyoming, approximately 190 miles east of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National
Parks.
Internship begins June 18th and lasts for 5 months.
Compensation is $750 each two weeks.
We are looking for a recent graduate who has strong plant identification
skills, field work experience and excellent camping, orienteering and outdoor
living skills. The ability to use a GPS unit and GIS software is required.
Desired Skills:
· Ability to identify flora in the intermountain west
· Ability to use a dichotomous key
· Ability to collect vegetation data
· Ability to effectively use a GPS unit
· Field and extended camping experience
· Ability to be in the field for long hours
· Map reading and orienteering proficiency
Requirements:
· BS or BA in Plant Biology or Ecology with a botanical focus
· US citizen or current visa to work in US
· Valid drivers license
· Vehicle needed for personal use, work vehicle is provided
· Personal camping equipment
