List, I've been using survey books (Elan Publishing, 1-800-258-2000 for dealers) for years. As an aquatic ecologist, it is pretty common for things to get wet. Also swear by Pentel mechanical pencils (0.7 mm). I've worked in the upper Midwest, northeast, and even in Costa Rica, have used in the rain and snow, and even watched as one flowed over a 10 foot waterfall in New Hampshire, to be recovered 50 meters downstream, in fine shape. Paper in these notebooks fine 50% cotton-content ledger paper, "protected by a water resistant surface sizing". These used survey books, used with a Pentel have treated me well over many years of fieldwork. Have used 'Rite in the Rain" notebooks as well.
