Briefly: The Office of Research and Development (ORD) is seeking applications for the position of a Federal Post-doctoral Fellow in the area of sustainability. Under the EPA-ORD sustainability program, EPA is interested in 1) developing sustainable watershed management strategies that address the broad needs of stakeholders that are transferable to different geographic locations or soil/climate zones; 2) understanding impacts on water resources that may be driven by socioeconomic as well as physical and biological factors, and 3) perform research that identifies important factors that might positively influence watershed management and in a way that fosters stakeholder participation rather than enunciating further regulatory structures.
Additionally: EPAs Office of Research and Development (ORD) is seeking candidates to fill one federal, four-year post-doctoral research position. Recent initiatives at ORD facilities have promoted the conduct of cross-cutting research across the different ORD Labs and Centers in the areas of sustainability and ecosystem management. The general research objective of this position is to develop and test sustainable environmental management methods, tools, and sources of information for communities, watersheds, ecosystems, and regions. Research areas will include modeling and field work on sustainability and environmental systems; development of methods, tools, and information sources for managing environmental systems. The work will be primarily place-based (centered on the underlying geography) and conducted at various scales of spatial resolution as called for by the specific research objectives. The nature of this work will require proactive collaboration with other NRMRL divisions, other organizations within ORD including NCEA, NHERL, NERL, NCER, as well as other organizations outside ORD. Due to the broad range of ORDs research mission, we are seeking candidates from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds, including but not limited to: Hydrologists, biogeochemists, wetland ecologists, landscape ecologists, soil scientists, environmental scientists, and water resources scientists or engineers. Preferred candidates for this position will have earned a Ph.D. in one of these areas within the last five years or will have it awarded prior to their Federal employment start date. The duty station will be in the National Risk Management Laboratory (NRMRL) in Cincinnati, OH. Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents.
