M.S. Assistantship: Ecology of Bottomland Hardwoods
I am seeking an enthusiastic, motivated student to pursue a MS degree through the Department of Biology at The University of Louisiana, Monroe. The student will be housed at the Plant Ecology Laboratory. The student will have the opportunity to interact with a core ecology group, specialized in broad range of research. Initially, the student will investigate the effects of forest fragmentation and land-use patterns on the ecology of Bottomland Hardwood Forests in northeastern Louisiana (with an emphasis on invasive species). The student will utilize a combination of GIS and field data to quantify and compare forest-cover loss in the region to historical data. I expect the student to join the program this Fall (2007), and to begin research next summer. Experience with analytical software and GIS techniques is desirable, but not required. Previous research experience is also desirable. Interested students are encouraged to respond to Dr. Joydeep Bhattacharjee ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) for more information as soon as possible. Please e-mail me for this position with a copy of your CV. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Joydeep Bhattacharjee, PhD Assistant Professor Department of Biology University of Louisiana at Monroe Monroe, LA - 71209 Office:(318) 342-1946 Fax:(318) 342-3312
