Ph.D. Graduate Assistantship in Ecogenomics

A PhD position is available for a highly motivated and qualified
individual to join me in an endeavor to understand plant-insect
interactions through an ecogenomics approach at Michigan Technological
University (MTU). The project will entail both functional genomics and
metabolomics techniques applied to the problem of galling insects on their
host, quaking aspen. Although important elements of this research have
been planned, considerable intellectual freedom will be given to the
successful applicant. Applicants must have solid laboratory and field
skills.

The quality of life for MTU students is outstanding. MTU is located in
Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula on the South Shore of Lake Superior. The
region is dominated by publicly-owned forests, and is rated as one of the
top 10 U.S. adrenaline outposts by National Geographic Adventure Magazine
(http://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/0107/trips_5.html). MTU is in
Houghton, Michigan (http://www.cityofhoughton.com/) and is a small
community with all the characteristics of such (safe, inexpensive,
friendly).

Consideration of applications begins immediately and will continue until
the position is filled. Please send a cover letter that states your
research interests and provides the names and contact information for
three references, your curriculum vitae, and any other relevant materials
by email to Jacqualine Grant ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), School of Forest Resources
and Environmental Science, Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI
