The Iowa State University Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal 
Biology (EEOB) is offering a distance education course, "Restoration of the 
Southern Iraqi Marshes," during fall semester, August 21 to December 15, 
2006.  The course will actually begin on August 30, and the last day to 
register for the course is currently set as September 6.

EEOB 590A is a 3-credit course that is currently being offered for distance 
education graduate credit through Iowa State University Continuing 
Education.  Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to take 
the course.  Graduate tuition for the course is assessed at the in-state 
rate of $990.00 for 3 credits.

* Learn about the Mesopotamian marshlands, their catastrophic destruction, 
and the indigenous Marsh Dwellers who lived there

* Participate in the global effort to restore the region's ecosystems, 
culture, and livelihoods

* Become an "electronic intern" and help investigate, analyze, and report 
on problems and restoration efforts

* Communicate with Iraqi scientists; assist Iraqi scientists and others to 
create a Center for Southern Iraq Restoration Studies at Basrah University.
