*System Wide Monitoring Program Technician*
The *Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (KBNERR)*, located in
Homer, Alaska is part of the Alaska Center for Conservation Science (ACCS)
at *University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) *and is hiring a System Wide
Monitoring Program Technician. This is a Research Tech Level 4 position and
will manage and maintain KBNERR’s meteorological and water quality
stations, and is responsible for management and interpretation of long-term
monitoring data. The ideal candidate is a collaborative worker, comfortable
in remote field locations and well versed in data management, statistical
analysis, and scientific writing. KBNERR is one of 30 National Estuarine
Research Reserves designated across the country and is a partnership
between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and UAA.
Our mission is to enhance appreciation and understanding of Alaska’s
coastal ecosystems to ensure they remain healthy and productive. As part of
ACCS, we foster research, education, and collaboration on biological
conservation and natural resource management throughout Alaska. We are a

Education Specialist
The Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (KBNERR), located in
Homer, is seeking an *Education Specialist *to communicate science to youth
and community audiences. This includes classroom activities, Discovery
Labs, and special events such as the Shorebird Festival.The ideal candidate
is flexible, has excellent organizational and public speaking skills, and
can work effectively with a variety of people, sometimes in changing
situations that call for creativity and adaptability. Work is often
performed in indoor settings (offices, classrooms, visitor centers) but
some programs are taught in outdoor settings that involve hiking, climbing
or on-the-water activities.This is a 6-month, part-time (up to 30 hr/wk)
position from March/April (flexible start date) through August 2025 with a
possibility to extend based on funding and alignment with KBNERR needs.
