Opportunity: Program Manager for GEO-TREES based at Smithsonian Institution
Location: This position will be based at the ForestGEO headquarters in the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC, USA, with the possibility of occasional telework. Description: This position will manage and coordinate the GEO-TREES<https://geo-trees.org/> program, a global network of research sites and scientists, aiming to build the world's first ground-based, open-access, equitably developed, forest biomass reference system. The incumbent will coordinate program activities, maintain accounting and reporting responsibilities, manage contractual agreements with international research partners, prepare summaries of research and program progress and needs, and manage logistical needs, development opportunities, and outreach initiatives for the network. Qualifications: Strong written and communication skills; Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; Expert knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing large projects in scientific fields; Skill in analyzing various financial and administrative data; Ability to communicate tactfully in written and oral forms in order to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of people from various cultural and national backgrounds; Skill to coordinate logistics in order to plan large events; Skills in computer and software programs for accounting and financial management in order to track, monitor, and provide financial oversight for large projects.
