We are seeking applicants with the concentration or training in One Health from 
their PhD programs for an on-campus Pre-Doctoral Funded Fellow position in One 
Health for Fall 2025 at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). The One 
Health Pre-Doctoral Fellow will be based at the new School of Integrated 
Sciences, Sustainability, and Public Health within the College of Health, 
Science, and Technology. The purpose of this fellowship is to enhance diversity 
in research, teaching, and service at UIS through the recruitment of a doctoral 
student who is completing dissertation research. In other words, Pre-Doctoral 
Fellow must be a doctoral candidate of the dissertation stage.
Pre-Doctoral Fellow will teach one course each semester in an area related to 
their academic preparation and a need of the host school. Specifically, the 
successful candidate will teach Introduction to One Health or Disease Ecology. 
Pre-Doctoral Fellow is expected to devote significant time to the completion of 
the dissertation. The Fellow will work with faculty mentors in the school.
Pre-Doctoral Fellow in One Health will receive a nine-month appointment for the 
academic year and is eligible for benefits, including health insurance. 
Pre-Doctoral Fellow must be eligible for employment. Additionally, the Fellow 
will receive support for research, professional travel, and other related 
expenses. It is expected that the successful candidate for the Pre-Doctoral 
Fellow position will not be employed outside UIS or receive additional 
fellowships or awards during the fellowship period unless approved by UIS.
