We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving *The University of Texas
Rio Grande Valley’s *student body as an *Assistant Professor in the* *School
of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences *beginning in the 2025-2026
academic year.

As a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution, UTRGV is committed
to preparing its students to succeed, contribute and excel in an
increasingly diverse, global, and interconnected world, and seeks faculty
who are prepared to help in this goal.

The School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences (SIBCS) at The
University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (Edinburg campus) seeks applicants
for a tenure-track position in the field of plant medicinal biochemistry.
We are particularly interested in applicants whose research intersects with
dimensions of human health, such as biosynthesis of pharmaceutics and
medicinally privileged molecules, biomimetic synthesis, biochemical
evaluations, enzyme activities, or medicinal plant chemistry; however, all
candidates with relevant profiles will be considered. Successful applicants
may do research that integrates across molecular, cellular, organ and whole-
plant scales, and involves identification, characterization, and validation
of novel plant-derived natural products of medicinal importance. Candidates
should provide evidence of a track record and strong potential for
significant productivity in interdisciplinary research and be expected to
demonstrate a capacity to develop an internationally recognized,
extramurally funded research program. Externally funded research and
upper-level course teaching experience are both considered a plus.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop an independent research
program and actively collaborate in research and grantsmanship with members
in the School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences as well as
other faculty at UTRGV and outside the University for impacting the RGV &
beyond. The successful candidate will teach at undergraduate and/or
graduate levels and contribute to advising students in the Master’s
programs in the SIBCS (e.g., Chemistry, BCMB, or Biology), and to a
forthcoming Ph.D. program in Integrative Life Sciences. Professional
service to the School, College and beyond is expected. Faculty are expected
to involve both undergraduate and graduate students in research activities
and should have a strong commitment to educate a diverse body of students
in a Hispanic-serving institution.
