The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at The University of North Carolina Wilmington<https://uncw.edu/academics/colleges/cse/departments/biology/> (UNCW) invites applications for the position of Frank Hawkins Kenan Distinguished Professor of Marine Biology. This is a standard nine-month faculty position beginning in August 2025. Candidates who have established outstanding research programs in any area of marine biology are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who have achieved international prominence in their field with an excellent record of publication, extramural funding, graduate mentorship and other scholarly activities, and who are likely to maintain a high level of productivity for another decade or more.
Associate or Full Professors (or equivalent) with exceptional records of achievement to meet the expectations for the rank of Full Professor at appointment are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching mission at both the graduate and undergraduate level in core areas of our marine biology curriculum and other courses as determined by candidate interests and departmental needs.
