Same issue on Ubuntu 19.10. A red indicator with 4 hours (45%) of battery left is counterintuitive. I find myself repeatedly clicking the indicator when it turns red only to find out that I have several hours left.

Unfortunately I didn't realize at the time that the screenshotter does not record open menus, so you'll have to take my word that the time remaining in the indicator menu was at > 1 hour.
