How to reproduce: install xfce (or xubuntu); install indicator-appmenu; login in xfce (or xubuntu) session; set main xfce-panel (with indicator plugin) in to vertical mode; run applications which having menu (example: thunderbird or chromium-browser); see to indicator plugin in xfce-panel.
