I see this problem with both Unity and Unity 2D. A couple of times a day the UI will stop working, I can move the mouse cursor but can't click on anything (eg no drag icon appears when I mouse over a window), eventually (after a while) it continues to work. Sometimes logging out or rebooting fixes the issue. The problem only occurs when using the laptop display. If I boot using an external display I never see the problem.
