The menu volume icon will be disappeared if we volume down (with key combination: Fn+F6, you can also emulate the keys with "xdotool key XF86AudioLowerVolume") to zero then logout and back in. But if we just zero down volume(with the single volume on/off button), then logout and back in, the volume icon is still there.
