There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. After a while I can't even close dash with Super key if i press it again after opening it with Super. All text I write to search field lags behind a lot. I've also gotten graphical bug where dash is drawn on screen even if it's closed. Ubuntu 12.10 Unity 6.10.0 preload 0.6.4-2 My display adapter is Radeon HD 3450 and i'm running opensource radeon drivers. If i uninstall preload dash doesn't slowdown anymore.
