Default theme makes text invisible

Bug description:
When using Unity's default theme (Ambiance), some text becomes
invisible.
Here is an example for disks

This problem also happens in Eclipse on the syntax help pop ups.
Using Gnome Shell with Adwaita fixes the problem.
