Sebastiaan, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will
automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report:

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel
available (not the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc5

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

** Description changed:

- I have 2 laptops with Ubuntu 12.10. One (Acer Travelmate) is fine, the other
(Acer Aspire 5749) is experiencing this issue.
- I had this issue with Ubuntu 11.10, wich was why I upgraded to 12.04 and then
to 12.10, but it did not resolve.
- I wanted to reinstall, but during reinstall I experienced the same issue, so
this was clearly an issue between ubuntu and my hardware.
- When I start, and login, Everything works fine for a short moment, but after
a while, my mouse doesn't seem to click anymore.
- When this arises I can still click on the sidebar, and in the menu of the
application that has focus.
- However, clicking on an icon on my desktop doesn't work and clicking on a
button, textfield, etc. inside an application does not work either.
- I can still move around in the app (using <tab> and <enter>), but my mouse
clicks do nothing.
- No left or right click, and no double click.
- I can still move the mouse and use the scroll part on my touchpad (works as
expected).
-
- When I started this bugreport the issue had arisen once more. As I'm
- typing this report, I find that I can click again, so this issue seems
- to get resolved over time, or by starting, stopping and navigating
- trought different app's, or something.
