It's still there in 13.10. Also, if you enable back Bluetooth in the system preferences the indicator will NOT reappear.

One would expect the icon to remain, but just grayed out, and having the switch in the menu in the off position (so that clicking it would turn BT back on). Instead, to re-enable bluetooth, one must currently open System settings and re-enable it from there. Some others have noticed this, too.
