Dear DSpace Community,

The DSpace Committers are delighted to announce a new member to the team:
Sascha Szott from Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg (HSU), Germany. Please join
us in welcoming him!

Sascha is a senior software engineer with 15 years of experience in repository
development. Starting in 2009, he served as a core developer of OPUS4 while
working at the Cooperative Library Network Berlin-Brandenburg, Germany. Since
2021, Sascha has been at the HSU, where he is responsible for the operation and
technical development of openHSU, HSU's institutional repository based on
DSpace-CRIS.

Sascha's journey with DSpace began in 2020 when he explored the DSpace 7 beta 4
release and submitted his first GitHub issue (#897) in the DSpace-Angular
project. Since then, he has been an active contributor to the development of
both DSpace and DSpace-CRIS, with pull requests and issue reports in the Java
backend and Angular frontend. Beyond code contributions, Sascha is an active
member of the community, engaging on Slack and participating in DSpace user
meetings.

We are always on the lookout for new developers, contributors, and committers
within the DSpace community.

Contributions can take many forms: writing code, reviewing or testing others'
code, helping on mailing lists, editing documentation, or improving the
theme/usability/accessibility of our user interface. For more information, see
our guide to contributing to DSpace:

https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/How+to+Contribute+to+DSpace

If you or someone you know has been an active DSpace contributor for some time,
you can also nominate that person to become our next committer! Nomination
details and more information on committer responsibilities are available at:

https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Committer+Nominations

If you have any questions about committership or contributing to DSpace, please
reach out to one of the current DSpace Committers:
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Committers or join our weekly
developer meetings: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Developer+Meetings

Thanks,

The DSpace Committers Group
