Hi, A 500 error is usually a sign of a communication issue between the frontend and backend. This is one of the Common Installation Issues listed at the bottom of the Install Guide at https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Installing+DSpace#InstallingDSpace-%22500ServiceUnavailable%22fromtheUserInterface
If the instructions there do not help, you should look for additional information about the cause of the 500 error by using our troubleshooting guide.
