I would check the ownership of directories under 'assetstore'.
DSpace's files should be owned by (or, at least, read/write
accessible by) the same account that runs Tomcat. If you use one of
the console methods of ingestion (e.g. 'bin/dspace import') it will
create the needed new files and directories using the account you're
currently running in. Tomcat might not be granted access by default
to those files and directories, which means that the next time Tomcat
(running DSpace) needs to create a file or directory in such a
directory it won't be permitted.

It's possible to work this out with group memberships or
access-control lists, but the simplest way is to always do console
work in DSpace from the account that runs Tomcat.

You won't be able to directly locate a troublesome directory by title,
because the files are named using a hash of their content. Just look
for files or directories in 'assetstore' and below, which are *not*
owned by the Tomcat user, and 'chown' them.

If this doesn't help, please ask again.
