Apologies if the following questions from Susan Borda about DuraSpace
membership benefits were already answered. I might have missed it.

Susan, this year the DSpace project offered a three-day "Advanced DSpace"
course for developers and repository managers. It was sponsored by Texas
Digital Library and held in Austin. DuraSpace members are offered a
substantial discount on the registration fee for these kinds of events.
DSpace training is frequently requested by users, and we expect to schedule
more in the coming year.

"Professional development opportunities" include these kinds of training
events, webinar series (members are offered early registration to these
popular sessions), peer group meetings and developer "hackathons",
strategic planning project workshops, occasional professional training such
as our ESI series, etc.

The DuraSpace Summit is an annual meeting of members that spans two days
and has usually been held on the east coast. Day one is a series of
plenaries and workgroup breakouts focused on project updates and common
issues. Day two is dedicated to project breakouts in seminar style that
address important issues for the projects. Member organizations are
invited to send one or two representatives to the Summit based on
membership level.

I hope that helps. Generally, aside from these benefits, people tend to
feel that the most important value of membership is the opportunity to have
a voice in the governance of their project.

Hi-
We’re thinking about becoming members of DuraSpace/Dspace and we have a
couple of questions:
What are the “Project Training Events” and “Professional Development
Opportunities” ?
What is the "DuraSpace Summit”?

Any other info would be great.

Thanks,
susan
