Hi I was asked to work on institutional repository for our organization. DSpace seemed to be quite what we were looking for but one major thing needs to be done to fit our needs. Affiliations. We must be able to store information on authors' affiliations, to browse and search items according to those affiliations etc.
I have set up a local development environment (Netbeans with some required add-ons) and were able to run basic DSpace 1.6.1-SNAPSHOT. Now it is time to move on and begin the real job. So the question is if anyone have ever tried to implement affiliations (as described earlier) in DSpace? Would you be interested in it? I am planning to build DSpace-1.6.1-AFFILIATIONS. That would include adding one table to database, some Manakin code to browse the affiliation tree, some extension to Dublin Core metadata. What do you think? -- Mateusz
