All,

As usual, there will be DSpace Developers Meeting later today (Weds, Feb
3) in the #duraspace IRC channel at 20:0O UTC. Again, that's 15:00 EST
or 12:00 PST for those in the USA.

Agenda items include:

(1) Status updates on DSpace 1.6RC2 and 1.6 release schedule

(2) Google Summer of Code 2010 -
http://groups.google.com/group/google-summer-of-code-discuss

(3) There's now a place on DSpace Wiki where we can all post new
Proposals for review/comments/suggestions:
http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Proposals

(4) Regarding the wiki page highlighted in #3 above: I'd like to put out
an initial call for any proposals around whether there are ways we can
continue to improve on our current release cycle. Some example prompting
questions: Any ideas on how we try to include input from repo managers
in upcoming releases (1.7 and beyond)? Do we try to decrease our cycle
time, why or why not? Are there other improvements people feel we could
make during a normal release cycle, or is it fine how it is? Feel free
to post your ideas (even half thought out ones) to the Proposals Wiki
page in the coming days/weeks, and/or bring them up during an upcoming
meeting. We are open to ideas from anyone, not just committers or
developers. (DuraSpace / Valorie & I are already working on some
initial ideas we'll be posting later today for comments/review)

Feel free to send along other topics/details to add to the agenda.

Transcripts and more information about our Developer meetings are
available at:

http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Developer_Meetings

As always, all our meetings are public. We welcome any developers or
non-developers to attend or just read along with the chat discussions.

Tim
