Hi Brianna,

In recent years Creative Commons has moved to providing their own API to select Creative Commons licenses. DSpace added support for the new Creative Commons API as of DSpace 1.8 (and it has been enhanced further in later versions of DSpace).

Unfortunately, that means the way that DSpace 1.5 (or anything earlier than 1.8) may not be guaranteed to work any more. Creative Commons has overhauled their website, etc, and I'm not sure if they even support the old way of selecting licenses any longer (they might, I honestly don't know).

Here's the ticket where we added the new Creative Commons API (in 1.8):
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-964

Perhaps others who are running a version of DSpace <=1.8 can validate whether the old method of selecting Creative Commons licensing still works. Otherwise, you might consider upgrading to a later version of DSpace in order to take advantage of the new Creative Commons API integration.

My institution is running DSpace 1.5. We allow users to select a creative commons license during the upload process. Last week, we discovered that the URL that we have always directed them to in order to select a license changed - it still asks users questions about selecting a license but no longer has a button that allows them to select one and return to our repository. Here's the URL, for reference: https://creativecommons.org/choose/

Has anyone else run into this issue and come up with a workaround for it? I've been perusing the CC website to see if a page with the previous functionality exists elsewhere but I haven't had any luck so far. If it's the case that this webpage is gone, is there another way to configure CC license selection?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
