Hi Haimanot, I just successfully moved and migrated a DSpace from 1.6 to 5.5. All worked well and did not lose any data. Here are the high-level steps I followed.
1. Set up a new server for Dspace 5.5 with all the software prerequisites and DSpace but without doing a build and deploy 2. Backed up the DSpace database from the old server and then restored it on the new server 3. Copied the [dspace] folder from the old server to the new server (making sure the assetstore and solr indexes are also included) 4.
