> I think the changed flag is now unused. Should be dropped if so.

I am using this changed flag in my dw-hdmi HDR patch [1] to force set 
mode_changed.

if (new_state->hdr_metadata_changed)
    crtc_state->mode_changed = true;

Maybe this is bad practice and should be handled in some other way?
