I've experienced a little more with CPU load and it seems, that not the CPU
load is the essential part, but the memory access.

To be concrete:
stress -m 1
is enough to let the sound play normal,
stress -c X
results in load, but does not change the audio.
(I use this programm: http://people.seas.harvard.edu/~apw/stress/)
