I noticed the following after upgrading from 2.3 to 2.4.1: if I run various Dovecot utilities as an unprivileged user, they attempt to load the entire Dovecot configuration. The configuration loading then fails with a "fatal" permission denied error while trying to access the x.509 private key, which is accessible only to root for security reasons.
Example: try running sievec as a normal user to compile a Sieve script. This should work, but it doesn't for the aforementioned reason.
