Why the main branch is not used correctly?
The main branch must be up-to-date with current 2.4.x.
An old 2.3.x branch for old stable code.
An old 2.2.x branch too.
Etc.
One branch -> several tags, help for tagging:

Can you solve all and remove all bad branches?
