We are aware of this bug and it has already been fixed in master,
https://github.com/dovecot/core/commit/9ba5c4965ca244efeeb525229f1293ef52a4bf3a
and will be included in next release.
In the mean time you have to use USER environment variable as
workaround. Very sorry about this.
