yes, /var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir is owned by vmail:vmail (5000:5000).
I dont think there is a problem here as when the first mail was to be
delivered, subfolders and files were created automatically under
/var/vmail, for example: /var/vmail/mydomain.com/user
below is my conf in postfix to call deliver:
dovecot unix - n n - - pipe
flags=DRhu user=vmail:vmail
argv=/usr/local/dovecot/libexec/dovecot/deliver -d ${recipient}
