It would be useful to know if the problem is with the imap process startup or after that. If you apply the attached patch, you can set:
service imap {
service_count = 0
}
This causes the imap processes to be reused for future connections. With the
patch enabled the processes keep the ability to switch back to running as root
and then switch to another user, so this works with multiple UIDs.
