If I have this lines in dovecot.conf: syslog_facility = local5 #log_path = /var/log/dovecot And this line in syslog.conf local5.* /var/log/dovecot According to wiki page, all log lines should go to /var/log/dovecot via syslog service, and this is exactly what happens. In fact in the past I found warning and errors logged to this file via syslog. It is very strange that all events are logged except the shutdown.
