Well, it would be nice to know what caused it. Could you enable rawlog for those users (http://wiki.dovecot.org/Debugging/Rawlog) and show me what was the last command from client that caused the disconnection? It most likely shows in .out file something like:
123 FETCH 345 (...) * BYE BUG: Unknown internal error
