This was a question, right? I guess Timo missed it as you missed the question mark... ;) AFAIK locking is not strictly neccessary if you're using local maildirs. I hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong. However, if you cannot got to Dovecot 1.0 but can convert to maildirs, doing this and turning off locking might also solve your problem. Greetings, Gunter
