Hi,

I recently upgraded this machine to Kubuntu 25.04, which was remarkably smooth at the time. However, the Plasma Clipboard Widget is now completely unreliable and I haven't been able to discover anything about it.

In years gone by this tool was known as 'klipper', but it recently morphed into the Plasma Clipboard Widget. It still works, (or is supposed to) in the same way. The user highlights some object (text, image, etc) and either presses Ctrl-C or right clicks on the object to copy it. The icon for the Widget is visible in the Taskbar and clicking it shows the last 20 objects copied, allowing the required one to be selected and pasted in the usual way.

I've noticed some irritations recently in that the object pasted isn't always the object selected; instead a another recent one is pasted. In the last week or so, the tool has become almost unusable, in that copied objects no longer appear in the list all the time! This behaviour appears to be entirely random.

I've tried to report a bug on Launchpad, but the tool seems to be down, because it no longer seems to know about Kubuntu (all returns refer to Ubuntu). I've looked on the KDE Bugs site and there is only one entry that appears to be related, but that is blamed on the code used to highlight the entry in the list, which I suspect wouldn't cause the latest symptoms.

Is anyone else using Kubuntu who has observed a similar issue?

Is there an alternative to this tool that offers similar functionality?

I tried to register a service on a website yesterday and ended up taking at least twice as long because I could no longer cut and paste Account Numbers, verification codes or passwords reliably.
