I know that I am late to the party, but my T'bird filters don't work very well
and chick a bunch of stuff into Junk.
Before I design anything I check to see if someone else has done it in
Thingiverse. If it is close I can download it, then upload it to Tinkercad and
modify it. Suggestion for everybody's birthday cakes: Numbers For Birthday Cake

Because my son & son-in law pooled together to buy my printer, my usual
birthday present is now filament. I have bought it from Amazon and arranged to pick
up at the local post office for free.
Any other useful hints: My printer came with a tube of pritt stick to make the
plate sticky to hold the design down. Never leave a print for long. It can go
wrong and then you will end up with a bucket of wasted filament like I have. I
haven't found anyone locally who can recycle filament yet.
OnShape was the design tool I couldn't remember earlier.

I have an Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro to replace my old CTC build yourself printer. I
am currently on Cura 5.9, and I don't remember the version that I first started
with. I have recently found out how to set it up to connect to the printer via
USB. Cura is the easiest to use. I did try a french one, but it kept wanting
money to get rid of the ads.
I use tinkerCad online to design my projects, though I have the program
suggested by Tim Stanton (youtube) -- Looks like I don't anymore.

Evening all
Anybody into 3D Printing?
Son wanted one for his birthday, now he has one I intend making use of it. So I
am just wondering what Linux Software there is available etc. I know that you
setup your model in a CAD program and then use the software to slice the model
into layers that the printer can handle. Just wonder what the best \friendly
CAD software for a 3D newbie.
