Hi, I am running linux mint on an old laptop, but when I try to install
anything via the command line I am usually met with the error as follows:

specify a solution)

What can I do to fix this problem?

I have installed the latest Mint on my test beastie PC, I had problems before
with UEFI and my ancient video card. I HAVE NOT updated or upgraded.
I 'sudo apt-get install thonny' and it did it. It also installed Python3. There
were some errors at the end of the script, something about a '\L' and another.

However, thonny did run at this point.

So I am no further ahead in trying to resolve your problem. Sorry it has taken
awhile.
